Reaching today … which is already yesterday … for a company like ours, which has gone through transformations and relocations, it has truly been a long journey… from its formative origins as Teatro del Borgo, through the wonderful experiences of production and artistic direction of the C. P. T., and the formative collaborations in Bologna from ’77 to ’84, to the move to Lombardia and the transformation into Teatro Ridotto (Lovere), which operated as such from 1984 to 1999, before expanding its ensemble by integrating with freelance professional musicians and becoming Teatro “Art’in Scena” at the Ridotto.

In 2000 we took over the management and artistic/organizational direction of the Teatro Adriano in Cagliari. In 2005, following the steady activity carried out in Sardegna and the convergence of new artistic experiences, we founded, as a direct offshoot of Art’InScena, together with our members in Cagliari, the Ass. Cult. Art’In.

And so here we are now, as Art’In, with our ever more vibrant vision which, as at the beginning, continues to aim for multidisciplinary, intercultural work with clear social values and an essential artistic prerogative.

Art’In is an ensemble which, with its two operational headquarters (Sardegna and Lombardia), wishes to be a place and point of reference for a community of spectators, students, industry professionals, associations and institutions.

Not merely places of viewing, but spaces of encounter and dialogue, “vital zones” for the exchange of cultures and knowledge.

Throughout all these years we have worked along a line of research into the contamination/integration of the various forms of artistic communication – theatre, music, cinema, dance – developing a personal way of relating actor-musician and space-image-music-movement, fostering a distinctive working methodology that has found a fruitful collaboration with various musicians and international artists in important projects/shows (we recall “viola e apoteosi”, “improvvisamente”, “ritratt…i/o”, “Obra”, “Ucronie”, “giocando a scacchi con la luna”, “santi Briganti”, “dissolvenze”, “inVento”…), presented at major European festivals and series (Festival Radio France du Montpellier e Languedoc Roussillon, Frankfurt International Theatre Festival, Volterrateatro, Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts, London Jazz Festival, El Grec Barcelona, Italienischer Theaterherbst Berlin, International “floraisons musicales” Marseille, Edinburgh International Festival, Les Italiens season Lyon, Festival Internazionale Theater Plzeň, Festival Internazionale di Lavrion – Greece, etc.).

Alongside the study of new expressive forms, we have always carried out deep work on social issues, striving to keep alive one of the most important functions of performance. It is from this intent that projects and events of civic commitment have arisen, “dedicated and given” to peace, to the fight against the mafia, to the environment, and to remembering the past in order to keep the memory of the present.

Research and outreach in the educational/pedagogical field hold particular importance, articulated through various forms of “tailor-made” intervention, which take shape as project proposals in a range of areas, in the collaborations and consultancies requested by bodies and institutions active in research, in schools, in the library sector, in information, and in the training of professionals at various levels.

We organize, at our venues and at other cultural organizations, refresher courses for professionals and introductory courses to theatre, music and cinema, as well as series and festivals.
